Our forefathers declared independence based upon our right to be separated from England based on the Laws of Nature and Nature’s God. Yes, they believed in God. Of the 5 who are credited with its writing, 3 may have had a bad deist theology, 2 held to deeply Christian beliefs. 56 members of Congress had no problem signing the document with this statement:
“all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”
You can try to argue your way out any way you like. This country is born on these words. We were born, “One Nation Under God!”
Because God loves us, when we found our lives upon Him, He supplies blessings that lead to things like the freest country ever to exist in the history of the world. We have fought hard for human rights and freed people from the bonds of slavery at home and abroad. We have built the most prosperous nation imaginable. With food and technology abundant...
This is not about government...
We rest in our constitution like it is the blanket that comforts us in freedom. Remember this fellow Americans, it is still made of paper that will decay. The Declaration of Independence was a statement of our willingness to press on towards freedom. Read this list of accusations in the document to see why we kicked out the British. You may see things that surprise you about our government today.
Oh, and taking firearms away from civilians? As many as 70,000 civilians served among the 140,000 militia men in the Revolution from 1775-1783. That is almost 1/3 of the fighting force that defeated the British.
For those who tear down our country and call their neighbors racists and colonizers. For those who exclaim the privilege of others, while not seeing their own. You just remember that most of these settlers were running away from tyranny as well. The Catholics and the British were executing those who did not believe like them or pay homage to the crown. Irish, Scots, Germans, French, Hungarians, all looking for a place to worship their God and provide for their families, gave up everything to get on a boat for 3 months and endure the toughest hardships to start fresh. These are the families that stood back up and fought the British once again. These are your countrymen.
So, do not stand in my presence, with your fat belly full of food and a $1000 smart phone, after exiting your modern car you drove from your airconditioned home, with clean water and electricity and lecture me on your lack of freedoms.
I believe so heartily in the idea of our great nation, that I was willing to stand up to defend her. I stood with brothers and sisters in service, willing to do harm on her behalf. We traveled the world, seeking out those tyranny’s that plague our existence, in order to snuff them out. I, with many of my countrymen, have done our part. We stand proudly under that beautiful flag and realize she is a gift from God.
Not all can serve this way, but you can still serve. Do not complain about the hungry unless you have fed the hungry. Do not complain about the shoeless or clothe less unless you have clothed them. Do not complain about slavery until you realize that a new enemy in human trafficking has risen. You want to end slavery, stop consuming pornography and close your strip clubs, slavery is more prevalent now than it has ever been.
I for one, will continue to stand for a salute our flag. She represents the plight of many to strive for a better place for their families. She represents the many who have sacrificed everything for their neighbors to live in peace. She represents the idea that we can all live free from the tyranny of a government built upon evil.
I will continue to worship God. The only true God. The one and only Creator of the Heavens and the Earth. The God who created us equal. The God who endowed us with unalienable rights. The God who provides, justifies, sanctifies, glorifies and redeems.
I believe these things and I will continue to press forward as a free American, raising my kids to be patriots. I will do this because we are the “Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.” I will do this because we are “One Nation Under God!”
